It is with great excitement that we have reopened for eye examinations, contact lens appointments and eyewear consultations and we can’t wait to welcome you back. We’ve had a little makeover, reorganised the store layout and even managed to acquire some fantastic new eyewear styles! But before you rush down, please read the information below to help us keep things safe for our clients and the team.

Anyone and everyone! However, we are operating all services on a BY APPOINTMENT ONLY basis for the foreseeable future to keep the number of people arriving at one time to a minimum (we’ve all had enough of queuing, right!?!).

We’ve had quite a few people contact us during lock down with eye related concerns. We have already been in touch with the most urgent cases and have availability for you all. However, we are still trying to prioritise those with the following concerns: - Your vision has changed - Your current glasses are no longer giving you great vision - You are finding things difficult due to changes in your working environment - You have eye-related health concerns - Your glasses have been lost or damaged To maintain safe social distancing and to meet more strict cleaning requirements we have extended our enhanced eye examination appointments to one hour slots. We are happy to do this to make sure everyone is safe and cared for in store, but this has reduced our capacity somewhat and we will be prioritising the most urgent requests. All clients are encouraged to book for an enhanced eye exam for the most through examination, using advanced equipment that allows us to see and do more, from a safer distance. Basic NHS Sight Test are available from 6th July, with appointments taking 30 minutes. Request your appointment below.

If you already have an up to date prescription and want to choose new glasses or sunglasses, or feel your current glasses are no longer correct for your new working environment, then we can arrange an eyewear consultation to get things sorted. Request your appointment below.

If you feel your current glasses are in need of some TLC, be it a repair or a re-fitting, we are also now able to sort things out for you. Please don’t just turn up at the door though, as we might not be able to see you on the spot. Please call us or request an appointment below.

If it’s time to order more contact lenses then we can help with that too. Please call us, or send us an email and we will be in touch to discuss your needs. At this time we are trying to minimise face to face appointments, so where possible, we can offer telephone consultations before supplying lenses. If a full appointment is required we will advise and make arrangements for you.

We know that for many of you, coming to see us will be one of your first post lock down experiences and that you might feel anxious about coming. Your safety, and the safety of the team, is of the highest importance to us, so we have taken precautions to keep us all safe. Here are some of the precautions we will be taking:

The first thing you’ll notice is that we’ve changed things around a little. We have removed one of our dispensing areas to create a safe waiting area that is nicely isolated. We have re-purposed the waiting area into our new dispensing area that allows us to sit a comfortable 2m distance while discussing your eyewear needs. And we have a separate area for eyewear fitting appointments. We have also got protective screens around the reception desk and a contactless hand sanitiser station just inside the door for use on the way in and out. And we haven’t scrimped on the hand sanitiser either, going for a high alcohol content gel is highly effective at cleaning. But don’t worry about your skin, it contains Aloe Vera so it is also nice and gentle! When you arrive in store we will ask you first to sanitise your hands and request that you wear a mask. If you don’t have your own then don’t worry, we have plenty to go around.

The very nature of an eye exam means that keeping a 2m distance at all times is not possible, so we are taking extra precautions. Your optometrist will have ensure that the consulting room is thoroughly cleaned down before you enter and they will be wearing appropriate PPE throughout, including a mask and disposable apron at all times and a visor or goggles when in closer proximity. After careful consideration we have decided gloves will not be worn, they make delicate tasks more difficult and hygiene isn’t really improved. Regular and thorough hand washing is a better option all round.

Having rearrange the store layout we have created a relaxed and spacious seating area that allows us to sit more than 2m apart while discussing your eyewear needs. As a result the use of masks at this point will not be mandatory, but optional for those wishing to take extra precautions. We have found the use of masks creates some problems, such as lens fogging and disturbing the way frames fit, making assessing fit and taking measurements very difficult. To help with social distancing we have invested in a digital measuring device, meaning we don’t need to get too close. Where we can’t avoid getting a little closer we will use masks as required.

Our opening hours are remaining the same as normal, but there may be occasions where they vary a little with short notice. We are operating on reduced team numbers and as such there may be occasions where we are closed for a short lunch break. We are also occasionally required to pop out to visit our most vulnerable clients at home where they are self-isolating. This is another reason for operating a BY APPOINTMENT ONLY policy for the time being.

We can’t wait to see you soon. While things might seem a little different and even a little strange for some time to come, some things won’t change. We are still committed to giving our clients a warm and friendly experience and ensuring that you walk away with amazing eyewear that help you look, see and feel great!
